E3 2012: Microsoft ? Xbox 360 Has a Lot More Than Just Two Years Left

All signs seem to point to the next-generation of consoles launching late next year, however, Microsoft Studios head Phil Spencer feels that there is still plenty of life left in the Xbox 360.

?Right now the Xbox 360 is really healthy and it?s doing incredibly well,? he told?GameSpot. ?I think the 360 has a lot more than two years. It has legs for a long time.?

The sad part is that it really doesn?t. This generation has reached its?plateau, there?s no longer that major leap in graphics or gameplay that is enjoyed during the early life-cycle. Every game released is just a carbon copy of what came before ? sure the skins are different, but underneath it?s the same old technology.

?Microsoft entered this space with the original Xbox 11 years ago, and we?re committed for the long-term,? he added. ?The nice thing about the Xbox 360 right now is we?re the number one console globally. We?re able to bring in new content and still support the best of the core games.?

Microsoft needs a new console generation to kickstart excitement. We ?ooohhhh? and ?aahhhhhh? at recently announced games, but deep down we?re all thinking the same thing. Where?s our new shiny console? Microsoft should stop spinning its wheels and move on already. We?re tired of the current generation.

Do you agree that it?s time to move on? Are you bored of the current-gen? Share your thoughts below.
