Charlize Theron made headlines this week for shaving her head for a new movie role.?

E! Online confirmed that the ?Prometheus? and ?Snow White and the Huntsman? actress cut off her blonde tresses for her upcoming role in "Mad Max: Fury Road," which is expected to begin shooting this summer.

But Theron is hardly the first actress to go bare ? from the neck up ??for a juicy part.?Here's a look at five other Hollywood actresses from Natalie Portman to Sigourney Weaver who opted to?lose their lovely locks for a role.

Demi Moore
In a key scene in 1997's "G.I. Jane," Moore's character takes an electric razor to her head and gives herself a buzz cut to show that she's tough enough to make it as a NAVY Seal. Unfortunately, the movie didn't do much for Moore's career. It was a box office flop and earned Moore a worst-actress Razzie.?

Sigourney Weaver
Before Demi Moore there was?Sigourney Weaver, who reportedly was paid $4 million to bare her head for 1992's "Alien 3." But the risk paid off for Weaver, who went on to star in a fourth film in the successful franchise, 1997's "Alien: Resurrection," and have roles in many more feature films including in 2009's "Avatar," one of the top-grossing movies of all time.

Natalie Portman
The actress shaved her lovely brown tresses for a starring role in the 2005 thriller "V for Vendetta." The move certainly didn't hurt her career: Portman won a best actress award from the?Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films for the part and later went on to win a?best actress Oscar for 2010's "Black Swan."

Natalie Portman shaved her head in "V for Vendetta," the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked man (Hugo Weaving) known only as "V."

Anne Hathaway
The actress doesn't quite go completely bare on top for 2012's "Les Miserable," to be released Dec. 14, but Hathaway has been spotted recently sporting a new pixie 'do. In the film, Hathaway plays Fantine, a mother who chops off her hair to support her child.?"I did it for a film, so it really wasn't about me and my security," she told MTV.com. "I'm just so pleased with how I look, so I now quite like having short hair."?

Anne Hathaway stars in the big-screen adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic novel, "Les Miserables." Opens Dec. 14.

Cate Blanchett
The Oscar-winning actress, who shaved her lustrous hair once before for 2002's "Heaven," told Australian newspaper The Telegraph last week?that she would do it again.?"Shaving off my hair is so liberating," she said.?"At school it was probably to rebel, but I cut my hair short a few years ago and I'm thinking about doing it again."?Blanchett has been cast in Woody Allen's next film.

Cate Blanchett starred in 2002's "Heaven." Sure, she had hair in this scene.
