Verizon says, "Unlimited is just a word" (what ... - Know Your Cell

Verizon Wireless doesn't give a damn whether or not you want or need unlimited data, at least that's the takeaway from what was said in a recent investor conference.?

During a call with investors, Verizon CFO Fran?Shammo basically explained that us customers need to be told what's good for us, otherwise, we just don't get it and we'll be prone to making stupid decisions. According to Android Central, these were his words, verbatim:

"So what customers are understanding and through our good sales routine is once you explain to a customer their usage on a monthly basis, unlimited is just a word, it doesn't really mean anything and that people don't really ? I think a lot of consumers think they consume a lot more data than they really do. So that whole unlimited thing I think is going by the wayside and they see the benefit of going to the shared."

So there you have it, folks, "unlimited" is just a word; nothing less, nothing more than a load of hot air. But hey, it's OK, because you probably didn't understand what it really meant anyway.

To be fair, Shammo does have a point, he just maybe didn't go about explaining it in the most eloquent way. (Hey, we know what's better for you than even you do! Just smile and look pretty, and we'll take care of that big, scary data plan for you -- it's not exactly a winning approach.) Most folks truly don't need unlimited data. In fact, the bulk of smartphone users require little more than the bare minimum.

Still, there are people that use their mobile handsets as their sole source of communication; and mass amounts of data are essential to their livelihood. Giving unlimited plans the axe for good isn't likely to go over well with the folks that actually rely on them.?
