Couple charged in church copper theft

SALISBURY - A couple from Linwood has been charged for stealing copper wire from the Jehovah's Witness Assembly Hall on Old Concord Road.

Officers arrested John and Jackie Leazer, of Sowers Road, at the Sheetz?gas station on Old Concord Road about 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.??Investigators say?the couple stole copper wire worth more than $500?from an electrical box on church property?on Old Concord Road.

A caller told deputies the Leazers were in a Nissan with an out-of-state license tag.? Salisbury Police intercepted the car near the Sheetz. Rowan detectives also responded to the call.? Investigators say they?found heroin and drug paraphernalia inside the car.

John Leazer, 29, and Jackie Leazer, 25, were charged with felony larceny from a construction site and felony possession of heroin.
