An invite for a joint event held by Nokia and Microsoft on 5 September has landed in our inbox. The press conference will happen in New York and will possibly see the unveiling of two new handsets based on the forthcoming Windows Phone 8 platform, days before Apple is expected to unleash its own follow-up to the iPhone 4S.
A spokesperson for Nokia has also confirmed that there will be a live webcast on the day via both Nokia and Microsoft channels.
Reports point to a handset called Arrow and another one called Phi, both based on Windows Phone 8 and possibly released to replace the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 610.?The Phi in particular is expected to replace both the Lumia 800 and the Lumia 900 with a curved glass display and the same polycarbonate unibody design.
AT&T will stock the Phi as a flagship smartphone while the Arrow will be available both on AT&T and T-Mobile with Verizon getting a variant of the Arrow.
